Omega-3 fatty acids and fish oils have become popular because science is validating their significant beneficial effects. In fact, over the course of several decades more than 8,000 human clinical trials have been conducted and 14,000 research papers published supporting the positive effects of omega-3 fatty acids, according to Nutraceutical World magazine. New research supporting a substantial list of potential health benefits, along with growing consumer awareness, has accelerated the demand for essential fatty acids or EFA’s for short.

Fish and fish oils are prime sources of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. The current level of EPA and DHA intake in North America is markedly below the level recommended by the American Heart Association for the management of coronary heart disease. A secondary, much less concentrated source of omega 3’s, is alpha-linolenic acid, which is found in flaxseed, flaxseed oil, walnuts and canola oil. Fish oil is the most abundant source of heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids such as EPA and DHA protect cardio-vascular health in numerous ways, battling several critically important cardio-vascular risk factors. The FDA approved a qualified health claim for the reduced risk of heart disease on packaging of dietary supplements. The claim reads: “Supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.”

Cardio O-3 provides 1,000 mg of highly purified omega-3’s from fish oil. But not just any fish oil. Cardio O-3 fish oil comes from small species, ocean fish that is caught in the wild. Sourcing from ocean fish is important because farmed fish are often raised with a variety of chemicals, antibiotics and additives to their food that can remain in the tissues. As an additional safety step, our fish oil is molecularly distilled for purity and quality to remove mercury, PCB’s and other impurities.

Dr. Steve Asks some important questions of interest to Erie residents - Chiropractor Erie Dr. Steve Asks...

Could a chiropractor put an end to bedwetting?
If bladder control seems elusive, consider chiropractic. If spinal bones are interfering with nerves that control your child's bladder, plastic sheets, alarms and other methods simply add to the embarrassment. Erie parents are often amazed (and relieved) that chiropractic can be so helpful. Learn more.
If you have a fever, are you sick or healthy?
Chiropractors love asking this question because it gets to the root of the chiropractic difference. Turns out fevers, vomiting, coughing and even sneezing are all healthy responses. It means your body is working correctly. Taking medications to suppress these natural processes can actually prolong your recovery.
